The Islamic group in Nigeria “Boka Haram” has abducted 200 teenage girls from a school in the remote area. Three weeks after they abducted the leader of Boka Haram Abubakar Shekau claimed responsibility in a video. He said on the video “I abducted your girls, By Allah, I will sell them in the marketplace for $12 per person, Allahu akbar” It is not confirmed that the video they released was before or after abduction. Based on police report more than 300 girls were abducted and 53 of them escaped. Current government has failed to spot this group and the military’s failure to rescue the girls. There is national outrage with protests in major cities. People accused president of being insensitive to the girl’s plight.

President Goodluck Jonathan took to the radio and TV on Sunday night to respond to criticism over his governments handling of the crisis. He said: "We promise that anywhere the girls are, we will surely get them out." The president said he had asked US President Barack Obama, Britain, France and China, for help to counter the activities of the Islamic terror group Boko Haram and dismissed claims his government was negotiating with the group.
